Program Description: The “Sandwich Population” is a growing one! As the caregiver to aging parents and young adult children, the responsibilities can be daunting. We will look at ways to care for yourself and ways to engage your loved one(s) with more intention and less agitation.
During this session, you will receive intel on the following
- Data and resources addressing the effects of being part of the “Sandwich Generation” to include caregiver self-care, agencies for in-home elder care and facility information.
- Dignity is Key. Avoid the Argument- best practices on engaging with an aging loved one without increased friction, confusion and resentment.
- Creating or Continuing Purpose- When responsibility, autonomy and obligations have all but disappeared, it can be difficult to feel a sense of purpose. We’ll discuss the importance of person-centered care and how to identify ways to create that sense of purpose.
