“How to Make Your Next Networking Event Your Best Networking Event!”

Have you ever seen an event that looked interesting, so you decided to register for it, but paused because you weren’t sure you’d know anyone? If you responded yes, this program is for you! The presenter, Kiki Carleton, Business Development Strategist (non-attorney) at Williams Mullen, will describe specific steps you can take before events to increase your comfort level and effectiveness. She will also provide suggestions on what to do right after you arrive—which for some can be the most challenging part—and how to pivot to additional conversations. Finally, she’ll share some thoughts on how to follow up after events.

As the Business Development Strategist at Williams Mullen, Kiki Carleton calls upon her marketing experience in multiple industries, including economic development, architecture, and civil engineering, to help firm attorneys strengthen their relationships with clients and grow their professional networks. A proud granddaughter of a state championship-winning high school football coach, she is passionate about identifying people’s talents, assisting to enhance critical skills, and providing the framework, feedback, and encouragement to help them get where they want to go.

She is a former long-time member of the Board of Governors of the Propeller Club of the United States, Port of Norfolk. In addition, she has held leadership positions on Virginia Ship Repair Association and Virginia Maritime Association committees.

Kiki earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Virginia, where she majored in English and history. She is not an attorney.
