Discussing the National Civil Rights Museum

During this virtual presentation, Ryan Jones will detail the history of The National Civil Rights Museum at the Historic Lorraine Motel. It is the site of the assassination of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, who was killed on April 4, 1968, in Memphis Tennessee. The motel transitioned into the museum in September 1991 and chronicles the key episodes of the American Civil Rights Movement. Beginning in the year 1619, guests are able to view permanent exhibitions from the rise of American slavery in the United States, the era of Jim Crow, and the boycotts, marches, and demonstrations to end racial segregation in America throughout the middle of the 20th century. Using additional archival clips of civil rights era demonstrations, Ryan Jones, will guide us on this journey through American history through the lens of the National Civil Rights Museum.
